They looked hot and tired.

2 had been reading
3 was working
4 hadnt slept (она не спала до того, как он или она ее увидел)
5 hadnt call (аналогично)
6 had lived
7 had been waiting
8 hadt come (мы имеем уже was angry в Past Simple, а он уже к этому моменту не пришел, соответственно Past Perfect)
9 had happened
10 had been playing
P.S. многое из этого верно! вы - умница!:) только разобратьcя немного больше в Past Perfect!
