Im going to tell you about Los Angeles. Los Angeles covers a very diverse geographic area. Basically it is a desert area, surrounded by the mountain ridge of the San Gabriel mountains and divided by the Santa Monica. Los Angeles County has 81 mile coastline. There are rivers such as the river Los Angeles river Rio de Janeiro, Ondo, rivers, San Gabriel and Ventura.
The climate of Los Angeles as the climate of southern California, is often described as "perfect" and theres a good reason. Mainly Sunny and warm here, summer blow gentle ocean breezes. Humidity is low, sometimes go a little rain. In fact, in Los Angeles there are no unpleasant seasons.
The name Los Angeles in Spanish means " the angels ". At the end of the 18th century Felipe Neve, Spanish Governor of California, saw the need to establish a colony on the river Los Angeles. The settlement served to reaffirm Spains claims on territory in the face of invasions of Russia in the North and England from the sea. The settlement would also help to support the Spanish military garrisons of California, procurement and supplies. Los Angeles was officially founded by Governor Felipe Neve on September 4 1781.
The statue of Governor Neve stands to this day in the Plaza Olvera Street, located in downtown Los Angeles. Later, when Mexico became an independent state, California with Los-Ingelesa came under Mexican control.
In August 1846, American soldiers entered Los Angeles and the star-spangled flag flying over the city since January 1847. In February 1848 an Agreement was signed Hidalgo of Guadalupe and the Mexican-American war was completed. California was ceded to the United States. In 1851 it was organized the first police unit.
Currently the city of Los Angeles is a city of contrasts. Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world, cultural center, which has more than 300 museums and a Paradise of weather.
It is the only city in the world, which has twice hosted the Summer Olympic games. Downtown Los Angeles is the largest government center, not counting Washington, DC.
Los Angeles has the worlds only wooden lighthouse, it is located in Fermin Park in San Pedro. Los Angeles has the largest historical theatre district, located in the Central part of the city on Broadway.
Los Angeles is in the forefront of the developing industry. The staff of the Los Angeles areas "Digital Coast" , engaged in the field of multimedia, more personnel in Silicon Valley and new York city Area of Los Angeles with more than 122 000 jobs of people employed in the fashion industry, has surpassed new Yorks fashion industry by number of jobs.
The population of Los Angeles is about four million people. Los Angeles is the second largest city after new York. In Los Angeles live people from about 140 countries, speaking approximately 86 different languages and currently call Los Angeles their home.
