Ottawa isthe capital of Canada, and the fourth largest city in the country. The city islocated on the south bank of the Ottawa River in the eastern part of SouthernOntario. Ottawa borders Gatineau, Quebec, and together they form the NationalCapital Region. Its population is about 900,000 people.
It wasfounded in 1826. And since that time the city has evolved into political andtechnological centre of Canada and has become a multicutural city with adiverse population. It is famous its museums and galleries. There are a lot ofmuseums and galleries in Ottawa. Among them are the National Gallery of Canada,The Canadian War Museum, the Portrait Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Museum ofNature and the Canadian Museum of Civilization, which is the most visited. Themost popular sight is Parliament Hill, which is a stunning group of buildingsthat house Canadas parliament. Free tours are offered throughout the year andthe Hill is also the setting for national celebrations, like Canada Day—aholiday when Ottawa really comes to life.
